Here comes the most awaited smartphone, Vivo Nex launched recently in July 2018 with the high price range. Vivo is not a vast brand in the Indian market. This brand is famous for its middle range smartphones but now they launched a high price handset of Rs. 44,990. Vivo gives a good feature in previous handsets and they tried to give more features in Vivo Nex but I do not think they will get more success because there are many other devices which give more advanced features than this smartphone. Although it has a high range, they are not giving you a feature of a fingerprint sensor on the back or front but there is the inbuilt sensor is present. So, it is my personal suggestion to think twice before purchasing this smartphone.
You cannot compare Vivo Nex with other smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S9 or iPhone X. There is no confusion or doubt about the designing. The design of this handset is superb. Yeah, you can compare the design with other smartphones but when it comes to the specifications then it does not go well. It is officially available in the Indian market from 21st July 2018 and easily available on some famous e-commerce websites like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, etc. When it comes to the bezel-less screen then one question arises in mind. Where did they place the front camera or speaker? This is just like a suspense for the person who did not saw this type of smartphones yet. On the top of the device, there is a small mechanical slider is present which reveals the front camera.

Obviously, you get the latest operating system and why not? The range is high and you surely get the latest features inside the Vivo Nex. This smartphone firstly launched in the Chinese market with two different variants, Nex A and Nex S. The only difference between these two devices is its processor. Nex A uses less processor of Snapdragon 710 SoC with the fingerprint sensor present at the back side while Nex S uses high power processor and chipset of Snapdragon 845 SoC with no fingerprint sensor on the back. Nex S uses an inbuilt fingerprint sensor.
The user will not easily trust on Vivo Nex because this is a bezel-less device which is good. A user wants bezel-less handsets but then adjustment of front camera, speaker grill, and sensor gets disturbed and so this smartphone also have. Due to this, front camera does not work well. Vivo launched the flagship of Nex S in the Indian market which is ready to stand out in front of Samsung Galaxy S9 and One Plus 6 and OPPO Find X in terms of its specifications and features. But does it gives a competition to these smartphones? If someone asks me then I will tell a big NO. Because I use this device so I am much familiar with Vivo Nex S.

Inside the Box

Vivo Nex uses a decent packaging material and the box in which Vivo kept the accessories looks stylish and beautiful. You will find every important stuff in the box. When you open the box then you get the mobile phone, and just nearby the handset, you will find the type-C power with USB cable, User Manual and Warranty card. All these accessories packed in a separate polythene. You will not worry about the important accessories. They also give you a pin for inserting SIM in the hybrid tray. No need to remove the back cover again and again for inserting SIM. But one condition is there which is also the demerit sometimes. You will take care of the Pin because if you will lose the Pin then you will no more able to insert the SIM.

The smartphone kept in a white colored box but there are no earphones inside the box. So, if you have a habit of listening to music or watching videos or movies using earphones then you may purchase from the market.

Design and Build

The design of Vivo Nex gives you a premium look. It looks beautiful in hand. The back cover is in the curved shape and if we compare with One Plus 6 then it is not slippery so there is no need to hold this handset tightly. You can hold easily with the rough hand also. Screen to body ratio is just incredible. When you look from the back side then it gives you a color of the rainbow at different viewing angles. When you see the back side then you will find the dual rear primary and secondary camera at the top left side of the back. Just below the camera, you will see the LED flashlight. The back builds with some shiny material so when you hold from the dirty hand also then there is no issue of fingerprints on the back. They do not catch your fingerprints.

I was impressed with the screen because there is a large screen with no bezels except small at the bottom side. At the bottom edge, you will get the type-C USB port for fast charging with the speakers and tray for inserting the dual SIMs. You will not see the real features on the top side of the device because of the bezel-less display as I told you above. But when you see with some focus then you get the front-facing camera with speaker and sensor. The camera does not work well. We discuss the camera part later. I personally hate the position of the headphone jack which is placed at the top edge of the Vivo Nex.
If we neglect some disadvantages then it is not a bad handset for the users who want to use the latest features but this is a fact that you will find many other better smartphones in this range. If you want to use that device which helps you to feel special in front of the public then you may purchase this smartphone. The dimension of Vivo Nex is 162 x 77 mm with the small thickness of 7.98 mm and the weight is just only 199 grams. So, you can easily hold Vivo Nex in your hand or comfortably kept in your pocket as well as in purse.

Display of Vivo Nex

Vivo uses a Super AMOLED screen of size 6.59 inches give you a merit to take the unique experience on the large display. The quality is good and it runs smooth. 93 percent of the screen to body ratio give the stylish and striking look to this smartphone. Viewing angles are just amazing so that when you see the screen from various angles then it will give you a colorful screen. When you use the device on full brightness then the screen looks impressive and when you go to in the darkroom which has no light then the brightness will automatically adjust so that you can see the screen comfortably. The display features Quad-HD which is the extra advantage for the Vivo users. Because of the screen resolution and pixels in which you will play games and watching movies are superb.

In previous Vivo devices, an ambient light sensor placed at a different position but now when Vivo Nex was launched then Vivo change the position of an ambient light sensor. It is placed just below the screen in Vivo Nex. It is a bezel-less device with the three sides but the four side uses a less chin which also looks beautiful. The screen resolution of 2316 x 1080 pixels allows you to play games like PUBG in the variant color screen.

No matter either you play games like PUBG or watch Sacred Games, the screen will not give you any type of problems in terms of its notch. Vivo uses a fingerprint sensor on-screen and it is the fact that it works not good enough in comparison with those smartphones which has a fingerprint sensor at its back. But we are expecting that the on-screen fingerprint sensor will get faster after using again and again. Overall, the screen has no major issues. It uses a Cornilla Glass protection through which your display will be protected and there are fewer chances of damage. They use a cutting edges in the body which make the smartphone more beautiful.

Performance and Memory part

You get the latest version of operating system in the face of Android 8.1 Oreo with the high processor of Snapdragon 845 through which you can able to run the device in a fast and smooth way. The apps are running well and when you switch from one app to another app, then you cannot face any problem like slow motion. Vivo does not give you a feature of facial recognition which you find in many of the smartphones comes in this budget like OPPO Find X. We surely miss this feature in Vivo Nex because this is our expectation to saw the facial recognition. When it compares from previous Vivo handsets then it runs nearly about 30ster.

It uses a clock speed of 2.8 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU through which you use the device with more graphics. Overall, Vivo gives you a powerful handset so that you can do complete tasks here without any difficulties.

Vivo launched this handset with 8 GB powerful RAM which helps you to play high graphics games like PUBG, Pokemon GO, and Asphalt 8 in a smooth way. It gives you a seamless performance with the internal storage of 128 GB which is enough to store the large amount of data like songs, videos, movies, games, images and many more data. Although it is the high range smartphone, it does not provide you with the facility of water and dust resistance. If internal storage is not enough for you then you can also expand the storage up to 256 GB via micro USB card. Overall, the performance and storage are good.

Camera of Vivo Nex

Vivo offers you a primary camera of 12 megapixels and 5-megapixel secondary camera with LED flashlight. But I am not satisfied with the camera because I expected more camera from Vivo Nex. The quality is just average. The images which you get from this device is not high. Vivo works on the flashlight and gives you a better image in low light also. The bokeh effect does not work well so you cannot get the decent images while using portrait mode. The background is blurry while capturing the pictures but not much. You need to crop the picture every time. But I am much satisfied with the daylight photos.

It delivers you a high pixel resolution image in daylight without the need for a flashlight. Comparing the shots with OnePlus 6, I think Vivo Nex has better and shiny images. Overall, the dual rear camera is not much good at this high price range. Vivo Nex comes in the 8-megapixel front camera for capturing selfies with no flashlight. Means you cannot get the good quality pictures at night. But the pop camera is not famous in the Indian market so users will attract from this pop-up camera and it works well also.
Vivo Nex | High Priced Smartphone With In-screen Fingerprint Sensor Photo 9
Vivo took a big step by launching this feature in Vivo Nex and it has its own advantage or disadvantage. The disadvantage is that you get the large screen. While the demerit is its short expectancy. The pop-up camera comes in 0.5 seconds which is fast. But when some dust particle enters in this camera then the camera is useless. So, you need to take care. You can do video recording at the speed of 4k with 720 pixels and 1080 pixels. You can change these pixels according to you. Overall, the camera is good but not in the comparison with Samsung Galaxy S9.

Battery

Now, no need to charge the device again and again because Vivo uses 4000 mAh battery with a quick charge facility. Means you get your device full charge in almost 1 hour. Vivo Nex uses a dual engine for quick charging. It allows you to work on your mobile phone for 1 or 1.5 days while you use the device intensively. OnePlus uses a technology of Dash charging which is not better from dual engine technology. I used Vivo Nex extensively, play games like PUBG clicking pictures, watching videos on YouTube and still, I got a 30ttery left. One day, I used the mobile without playing any games then it gave me a back up of one and a half day. Overall, the battery works decent and I can say one thing surely, Vivo focuses on battery and does a good job in the battery part.

Pros and Cons of Vivo Nex

There are some pros and cons of Vivo Nex which makes the Nex good or bad. It gives some good features which you cannot get on other smartphones but also some lack of features. Cons of Vivo Nex are:
  • No facial recognition
  • No waterproof feature
  • Average performance of the camera
  • Custom UI looks ugly
  • Overpriced device

Its pros are:
  • Good looking handset
  • Decent battery back up
  • Using the latest technologies
  • Large screen with no bezels

Conclusion

Well, Vivo Nex comes with good features. No doubt, it has some flaws but as you can see every device has some flaws so this handset also has. But if we consider its features which is present in the mobile like long battery back up, a latest operating system with the latest processor, large display and much more. You cannot say to one particular device that the device is perfect. I am impressed that Vivo uses the latest feature of Pop up camera in the Indian Market. When someone asked me a question that which company will give a new feature then I told him about other smartphones but now after using Vivo Nex, I will recommend seeing Vivo's handsets also. I still prefer other smartphones also like OnePlus or Samsung Galaxy S9 but these also have some flaws which overcomes by Vivo this year.
