A newly launched smartphone comes on the market in March 2018 with a cheap price range which is known as Itel A44 and has good features in it. Although it is not in the comparison of the other smartphones but considering its price range then this is an awesome smartphone in this segment. The display is 5.45 inches with the resolution of 480 x 960 pixels. This is not a high pixel resolution but in this segment, it is the best smartphone. It comes with 5 megapixel rear snapper and 5-megapixel front snapper. The camera performance is just average. This is not for the camera lovers. Only basic users can use this handset because there is LED flashlight in the camera but does not work well.     

It uses an operating system of Android 7.0 which is good because in this price range I think there are few brands which give this operating system. Basic features like fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, proximity, light sensor are available in the device. When we talk about the storage part because it is also the most important part for any user so they will give you 1 GB of RAM with 8 GB internal storage facility. An expandable memory by using the memory card is up to 32 GB. Overall, it is not much bad. A massive screen gives you a chance to use the mobile phone in a massive way. The design is superb with the rounded edges. Overall, Itel A44 gives you premium look when you take this smartphone in your hand.

Design and Build

Itel A44 has the most alluring look so that you feel good while using this handset. The design-build in such a way that every user can easily hold in the hand and feel comfortable. It has 148 x 70.5 x 8.2 mm dimensions which are not so high. The weight is quite less so you can comfortably use this smartphone and easily put in your pocket. A rear camera is placed at the middle side of the back with LED flashlight and the logo is at the lower side in an amazing and cursive style which looks stylish from the back side. A fingerprint scanner is in its exact position because sometimes you feel insecure and face problem to reach the finger. But in this position of the fingerprint scanner, it is much easy to reach the index finger.

It is available in three different color options: Rose Gold, Red, and Champagne Black. My personal advice is to purchase the Rose Gold color smartphone because it gives you more premium look than any other color. There is no button on the front side. This is a full touch smartphone. So you must use the touchscreen to access this smartphone. The volume rocker and on/off button is on the right side.

The edges of Itel A44 is curved but there is no protection on the screen. You must take care of the screen from water and dust. An audio jack is placed at the bottom side near the charging port. There is no wireless charging facility in Itel A44 but I think it is fine for the users. Because this smartphone has only general and common features according to the price range. Overall, the design of this smartphone gives you an awesome feeling and no one can detect the cheap price when looking at this handset.

Display

It offers you 5.25 inches or 13.84 cm screen size which is not so small. If you want to play games and watch movies then this is perfect for you. No need to face the issue. An IPS LCD display gives you a benefit to see the LCD look in the movies. The text is larger and you can change many languages in this handset according to your choice. Viewing angles are awesome because of the IPS LCD display.

However, you are able to see the sharp colors on the screen. The display resolution of 480 x 960 pixels delivers you the best quality images and viewing angles. But there are no AMOLED panels inside the screen so you will not be able to enjoy some high-quality things on this smartphone. Without hiding anything from you, it is made just for the common users who want to use the handset only for some basic activities. This is not for high-end users.

The aspect ratio is 18:9 with 73.46% screen to body ratio which helps you to see the Netflix or HD movies in the better way. The pixel density of 197 pixels per inch is helpful to see the images and text in more clear manner. Sometimes you may face issue because there are many smartphones in the market which give you better quality screen but the price is high as compared to this handset. According to this segment fo price, Itel A44 is not the bad smartphone for the users who want to use the daily basic tasks like web browsing, net surfing, using Facebook, WhatsApp and many more.

Processor and Storage

The processor is not an issue while you using some basic games. But if you want to use heavy games then you will definitely face processor. Because it does not support that much RAM and operating system. Itel uses Android 7.0 Noughat operating system which is not the latest processor in today's time. If you want to play heavy games like PUBG, Prince of Persia, Pokemon Go and many more then I suggest you go somewhere else. The 1.1 GHz quad-core processor is not able to handle the heavy games or heavy HD videos. I already told you that this is not for the users who want high specs or high features smartphone. A chipset of MediaTek MT6737 is a common chipset which is present in all the smartphones comes in this budget. Hence, Itel A44 is a low budget smartphone with an average or basic processor.

Now come to its memory. It offers you 1 GB of RAM which is the basic RAM and does not capable to handle heavy data. It creates a problem when you want to store more data. However, 8 GB internal space is available to store the data with an external storage of 32 GB when you insert the external memory chip. The storage memory is not so high. You cannot store more amount of data in this handset. You may face hanging problem sometimes if you intensely store more data. Overall, memory is not large but sufficient for the basic users. But if you want to use more apps at one time then it is fine for this smartphone but the condition is that the app is not so much heavy. Otherwise, you may face difficulties while switching from one app to another app.

Camera

Itel A44 comes with a rear camera of 5 megapixels so that you can capture the decent pictures. But the same thing which I discussed above the quality of the camera. You cannot get the high-quality pictures using this smartphone. When you capture the picture then it will give you 2592 x 1944 Pixels image resolution. There is no advanced feature in the handset like the manual app and many more. Itel gives you an average flashlight which you use in ample light conditions. If you want to capture the image in low light then it may not give you that much image quality which you expected. Itel just gives you an average camera with LED flashlight.

A 5-megapixel front snapper is there to take the selfies. The flash is just average and is not working properly when you click in dim light conditions. It gives you a good image quality only in the daylight condition. If you have a habit to take selfies or you are addicted to selfies then this is really not for you. However, the price range is too low so that you can easily afford this handset but the only condition is that you do not want to high-quality images while buying the handset. The video recording at a speed of 3K per second is okay. Overall, the performance of the camera is just average.

Battery

The handset packs in a non-removable battery of 2400 mAH and it is of Li-ion type. If you want to use for basis purposes then it will definitely give you a battery back up for a complete day from morning to night without any low battery notification. But if you play games continuously or watching movies then it will give you less battery.

See, the battery backup also depends on the way of using the device. If you use more then it will give you less battery backup and vice versa. So, if you want more battery life then try to use the device in a decent way. When we did a test with the battery then we find that if you talk continuously then it will give you 10 Hours battery on 3G and 17 Hours battery life on 2G. The fast charging facility is not present. So, you need to wait for at least 1.5 hours to 2 hours. After a full charge, you can sue it for a full day without facing any trouble. I suggest you not to go for this smartphone if you are a heavy user.

Disadvantages and advantages of Itel A44

Itel A44 is just an average mobile phone comes only with common features because of its cost. This is the smartphone which comes with a low budget. Let us discuss some cons: 

1. Camera performance is not good in dim light.
2. Average Battery life.
3. Storage is not high.                                                         

Advantages of this smartphone are:

1. Sound quality is superb because of the 3.5 mm audio jack.
2. Screen size is good according to the budget.
3. Performance of hardware and software is fine.

Verdict

If you are looking for a smartphone in a low budget and want some common features with average performance then it is okay for you. But if you want high-quality features then I recommend you to not go for this handset. This comes only for the users who want to do some basic works and not use for heavy games, better camera quality, and much more.  A44 is designed to just fulfill the basic needs of users. The 2400 mAH battery is enough to use the handset for a full day. In short, it is commonly featured smartphone with a low budget.
