Huion H610 Pro v2 Review | Affordable Drawing Tablet

At ValueQ, we reviewed 2 drawing tablets from Huion, GT-133 and H610 Pro V2 and in this article we are going to talk about the Huion H610 Pro V2.

What’s Good?

1.      Compact Design- The portable and compact design of the tablet makes it easy to carry and comfortable to use.

2.      Easy Setup- Installing the drivers is quite easy, although, the tablet can still be used without the drivers but the shortcut keys won’t work.

3.      High Pressure Sensitivity- The tablet support 8192 levels of pressure which helps in achieving strokes of precise thickness evaluating to an outstanding drawing experience

4.     Accessories- H610 Pro V2 comes with a pen holder which is useful to hold the pen when not in use. Also, there are extra pen tips for replacement when the current ones wear out. There is a drawing glove in the box too which really smoothens the hand movement over the tablet.

5.     Battery-Free Pen- Since the pen which comes with the tablet is battery free, the hassle of recharging or replacing the battery is no longer present.

6.     Customizable Keys- H610 Pro V2 comes with 8 customizable hard keys and 16 customizable soft keys which enhances the usability of the tablet.

What’s Not So Good?

1.      Driver Restrictions- While installing the drivers is a very easy process, however, there is a catch. The tablet driver won’t work properly if there are any other drawing tablet’s drivers already installed.

2.      Requires Film on Display for Some Users- Without the film, the tablet or pen resistance is a little bit too small.

3.      Extra Hard Shortcut Keys- The shortcut keys are a little bit hard to click, comparing to the laptop keyboard.

Unboxing

Huion H610 Pro V2 comes in a white colored box with the photo of the tablet on the front along with Huion branding. On the back of the package, there are some key specs about the tablet. Inside the box, following stuff can be found.

All the accessories are made out of high quality material and the presence of the drawing glove in the box is a decent gesture from Huion.

Design and Build Quality

Huion H610 Pro V2 is a well-built tablet for the price. We were really amazed by the build quality of the tablet when we held it for the very first time. Although, the whole body is made out of plastic but it feels smooth to touch. The tablet comes in only black color option.

Huion H610 Pro V2 has overall weight of 635 grams and the dimensions are 353 x 245 x 10mm. This makes the tablet compact and comfortable to use even on a small table area. Also, the active area on the tablet is 10 x 6.25 inch which is big enough for drawing comfortably. The buttons on the left are made out of plastic too which might be the only area of the tablet that doesn’t scream quality

Overall, the tablet has a solid build quality which can resist small impacts easily.

Features

Huion H610 Pro V2 is no-doubt a budget drawing tablet but the list of features is surely looks expensive. There are some impressive features which were unable to find on other budget tablets. Let’s take a closer look at the list of some awesome functions

Battery-free Pen

Recharging or replacing the batteries on a stylus or Pen often feels annoying but not anymore. Huion H610 Pro V2 comes with a battery-free Pen PW100. This pen uses battery-free electromagnetic resonance technology to draw without the need of batteries. Also, the stylus comes with some customizable keys too which makes the job much easier. There are two customizable side buttons, one-touch eraser, and soft rubber pen cover which provides smooth grip.

The tablet also comes with a volcano shaped pen holder and 8 extra pen-tips for replacement if the current one wears out.

Customizable Shortcut Keys

The keys on the tablet are customizable which helps in saving time and improving the fluency of creation effectively. There are 8 customizable hard keys and 16 customizable soft keys all of which can be customized to work according to the requirements. However, the tablet drivers must be installed properly on the laptop or desktop for the keys to work properly.

High End Configuration

Huion H610 Pro V2 comes loaded with high end configuration which makes it an eye-catchy option. Starting with the pressure levels, there are 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity so each strokes turn out to be precise. The pen supports ±60 levels tilt recognition, performing like traditional brushes. You can enjoy a real feeling of writing and painting. The 233PPS report rate, 5080LPI resolution or 10mm sensitive height are all the best standard in the industry, you can get every stroke you drawn without delay.

Wide Range of Applications

The tablet can be used across multiple industries to meet multiple requirements including but not limited to digital art, gaming (such as OSU!), 3D model designing, photography, business signing, costume designing, architectural designing, video producing and so on.

Compatibility

Huion H610 Pro V2 supports even the old operating systems so the user doesn’t have to necessarily update to a newer one. It comes with support for Windows 7 or above and for MAC 10.11 or later. The tablet support mini USB interface, hence, compatibility isn’t going to be an issue.

Setting up

Huion H610 Pro V2 is quite easy to setup, all you need to do is just plug it to the USB port on the laptop, which will turn on the tablet. However, you will still need to install the H610 Pro V2 driver, otherwise, the shortcut key on the left side of the tablet won't work. Also, make sure to delete all other digital tablet drivers before download the right driver from Huion official site, otherwise, the drivers may not work properly.

We already had Wacom Bamboo driver installed in our laptop which we had to remove before, which for the drivers of Huion H610 Pro V2 to actually work. Also, according to their User Guide if there are other Huion drivers already installed on the laptop or desktop, they will influence with the current drivers. This might be an annoying issue for those who own two or more drawing tablets.

The driver installation process is quite fast. After installing the drivers, the shortcut keys on the tablet can be customized according to needs.

Drawing Experience

Before drawing, we highly recommend you put on the glove which you can find in the package. It will make the hand movements on the tablet much smoother.

The software we tested here is SAI2 and the laptop we used is Microsoft Surface Laptop.

Honestly, the drawing experience was great. The very-high pressure sensitivity of the H610 Pro V2 provides a rich drawing experience closer to a real pen and sheet. With different pressure on the pen, strokes of different thickness can be achieved.

However, we also noticed a problem that is the tablet or pen resistance is a little bit too small. For someone who have get used to high resistance, he/she may need more time to get used to it, or, actually, they can buy a particular film to increase the resistance. 

The shortcut keys on the tablet are very convenient. From top to the bottom, they are undo, eraser, pencil, zoom in, zoom out, enlarge brush, narrow brush.

The shortcut keys have generally contained all the frequently used keys. However, the shortcut keys are a little bit hard to click, comparing to the laptop keyboard. So you may need some time to get used to the new touch.

Verdict

Huion H610 Pro V2 is an affordable value-for-money drawing tablet. It is compact and sturdy which makes it easy to use and carry around. The pen which comes with the stylus is battery free so charging is not required anymore. With high pressure sensitivity and tilt function, drawing felt natural and strokes feels fluent and precise.

The USB interface is widely compatible which eliminates any compatibility issue. Also, setting up the tablet is pretty simple and drivers can be easily downloaded from the official Huion website. The customizable keys on the tablet enhances the user experience by providing more control over the tablet.

Combining these features together makes Huion H610 Pro V2 a great deal.
